The lattice column is a composite steel structural column formed by two or more separated steel members such as angle steel, channel steel, and I-beams, connected with lacing bars or lacing plates. Common cross-sectional layouts include cross-shaped, rectangular, and circular configurations.
In the lattice column system, each individual steel member works together to carry axial compressive forces, while the lacing elements stabilize the position of the members and transfer shear forces.
